When I was growing up, my mother always told me that polite young ladies did not telephone young men, unless that young man happened to be a relative. It was simply improper for a girl calling someone from the opposite sex. We should wait for the young men to call us first. My friends and I wait sometimes to get calls, but in vain. If we did not meet our life partners accidently,we will be waiting till now. Today, things have changed for our daughters and the generations of young women in the future.
Calling men is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged. There is no stigma attached to picking up the phone and asking a young man out, although these days, the girls are more likely to send an e-mail or text an invitation. Still, the whole taboo against calling men has gone the way of the dodo bird. It is an outdated and very silly. And for the sake of my daughter, Im glad. When friends ask me why am I still single, I have this answer: I am fussy. In fact, I am very, very fussy. I am apt to add that I would far rather be a little lonely than in a painful, complicated mess.
Clearly, I am not interested in violent people, substance or alcohol abusers — Clean and sober, and already finished with anger management classes are important starting points for me. One more point. I hate smoking, bad language and narrow mindedness please. I avoid becoming involved with anyone that is still in another relationship as well as anyone who doesn’t have their finances properly organized. Why am I still single? My dreams are for someone who is intelligent, kind, into volunteering to help others, decent to kids, and knows life is far more than all about themselves.
Maybe finding someone with a golden heart is too much to ask! Nobody knows how men really think because men don’t think about such trivial nonsense and women are incapable of knowing what goes on inside a man’s head. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could have extraterrestrial intelligence come to earth and mindmeld our male counterpoints to read what is really going on inside.
